Tactile Exploration of Space
3m X 3m X 3m, Chair, acrylic paint & bubble wrap, 2017
"Tactile Exploration of Space" is an attempt to approach the understanding of the space which is surrounding us with a sense of touch.
The skin, the tactile cell that covers our entire body, is a primitive, immediate sensory organ. When we are surrounded by an unfamiliar environment that is beyond the boundary of conscious awareness, we are trying to bring all the senses of our body, especially the tactile sense, into the categories of perception to recognize it.
Our skin is shrinking and the hair of the skin cell is trying to recognize the unfamiliar environment which is in contact with the outside. At this moment, we become more awake. The time goes slower and our memory of at this moment becomes more vivid.
